A BRIEF UNTOLD HISTORY ABOUT THE IGBO INCEPTION OF UGBODU KINGDOM .

Image
There has always been igbos in ugbodu before the arrival of the warriors from Akure, sent by the then Oba of Benin wen he was in pursuit of the fleeing igbos from the Benin kingdom. Those warriors getting to ugbodu,settled....and called the igbos there "olukumi" meaning my friends.  So ugbodu was an igbo town by inception hence the use of igbo language along side the yoruboid language(olukumi). You cant separate ugbodu from her igboness.  what I am saying is dat ndi igbo is part of the foundation of Ugbodu Kingdom and Anioma in general so when we are speaking of fore  father's and birth right, that should be in mind too coz actually, the warriors were the ones who "came in" and settled ,meeting pre existing igbos . So one can decide to identify as onye igbo from Ugbodu in Anioma delta state and also those who feel they are Yorubas or olukumi can also identify as one.

THE REALITY OF THE ODIANI CLAN TODAY IN ANIOMA.

Towns that make up the Odiani Clan. Ugbodu-uno,Ukwunzu,ogodo,Ugboba,idumu ogo and Ubulubu. Ugbodu and Ukwunzu are bilingual towns (heavily infiltrated olukumi and Enuani). The remaining 4 are only (Enuani) igbo speaking. Making the odianis fully western/delta igbos. The head/chairman of Aniocha North council of traditional rulers is the Obi of ogodo . Culturally(food,attire....etc) we share with the rest of Aniocha. The fact that part of the odianis migrated from owo doesn't in anyway make them citizenry of ondo or yorubas as I see some full grown adults wallowing in confusion and identity crisis which is very pitiable. I read on a page somewhere where an indigene of ugbodu was being confused on what ethnic group to write down on an application form, and that was so shocking to me . We are not the only people who migrated from a particular place or have a mixed migration ......there are alot of towns in Anioma that trace thier origin to Edo,igala etc. Even in the

THE UKWUNZU PEOPLE OF THE ODIANI CLAN

History of the Ukwunzu/Odiani People The traditional ruler of Ukwunzu, his Royal Highness Obi Christopher Ogoh 1, gave a very detailed account of the origin of the Ukwunzu people of Delta State. According to him, many decades ago, when Benin and its environs were still under the Ife Empire whose ruler was Oba Oduduwa, the Bini’s were directly governed by lesser kings who reported back to the Oba of Ife. It was during this era that Ojiso and Odiowere emerged as the direct rulers of Bini subject to the Oba of Ife. Due to their high handedness and lack of leadership charisma, the people protested and appealed to the Oba of Ife to send them one of his sons to be their king. The Oba who agreed to their plea, agreed to send his first son Orumiha. As a prince, during his journey to Benin, Orumiha was accompanied by advisers, soldiers, friends and slaves. On getting to Benin,he was crowned as the first Oba of Benin, to have directly descended from the Oba of Ife. After his coronati

The Odianis of today are in no way Yoruba people,as they dont share any similarity in culture or tradition, and also way of life.
